It's my first week of being back to nearly normal and I needed to make up for it with lots and lots of projects!
My first project was my own soap. It was my mom's birthday and I thought it would be a great opportunity to get creative! - (Pics to come soon!)
I took an old foaming hand soap bottle To use as my soap dispenser.

I chose almond flavored Castile soap as my base. The recipe I found uses one part soap to three parts water. A quarter of a cup Castile soap and 3/4 cup water just filled up my soap dispenser nicely.
Now comes the fun part, choosing your essential oils. I made two soaps this past week. To one I added three drops of cinnamon leaf extract, to the other I added 10 drops of peppermint oil. The recipe I read had said to use 10 drops but that was way too much, and totally overpowered the almond scent. Three drops of the cinnamon oil was just perfect.
Both smelled fabulous though and mom really liked the peppermint soap she got for her birthday.
The comments I got were 'wow your hands feel really clean after using this soap!' and 'no residue or anything...'

The final touch was making my own label.
Turned out pretty cute I thought

I really like making my own soap, I like controlling the smell, and I like knowing what's in it. This is definitely something that I will continue to do for the family! Plus, so much cheaper than something you can buy in the store!
