One round of valentines school parties done! One to go...
The school Punkin Pie goes to does 'Appreciation Day' instead of Valentines Day, which I think is super cute and a much better way to teach kids than giving cheesy heart cards. They also have a party to celebrate and bring handmade appreciation cards for each child in class. Parents are invited to join in the fun and bring a dish from their culture to share. Cute!
Problem - The only culture I can boast of is Apple pie and 4th of July. So, since I vetoed hot dogs or Mac & cheese, I decided to borrow some culture from my aunt, who is from Finland. Yay!
I decided on a traditional roll recipe that Fins often enjoy during Christmas time. Since I was going to have to feed a lot of people I made braided loaves instead of rolls. That way I can slice the bread and cut those slices in half, which should give me more than enough pieces to share.
While I was throwing the dough together, My Love got the job of helping Punkin Pie finish her handmade cards... Took forever! All those names and drawings yikes! But she did such a nice job! Thought of something nice to say about everyone in class. Love her!
The bread takes forever, but it's so delicious! I love cardamom!

while there are a bunch of pulla recipes online, our family has always made them with a sugar/flour/butter combo on top... When it's baked you get a delicious baked in topping that gives the bread a little something extra. Yum!
If only I hadn't overcooked it! Ack!
